Even when the overall color management is set, as described in 'Preferences', you can assign specific settings for each single coloration. With this option, you can work with different profiles and adjustments. Double-click on a coloration to open the 'Coloration options' window. You will find several options for naming and location, coloring and proofing parameters.

  • Name and Location - Name your coloration and set the location of auto saving.

  • Coloration -  Enables hybrid colorways and provides methods to simulate production in coloring.

  • Color setups - Assigning or converting a coloration to an ICC profile and saves embedded profile.

  • Proofer Setup  - Set profile and simulation to test your colorations' colors and previews.

  • Default and Ok - Take the settings as default with Set as default for all newly created colorations. Ok will take the settings for the selected coloration.

Localization and Setups

The Localization of a colorway can be Local or Remote, if it is also published in neoCatalog. The Local localization uses the standard path Users/<USER>/Documents/neoTextil/ColorationsSetups allows to save different settings with specific setup names. 

The list displayed shows your settings, and to include a new one click on New setup… New dialog opens to type the setup name that you wish, which will be ready for future colorways. The new location is selectable in the list, and information of the settings is saved as XML in /Users/Shared/Inèdit Software/InSwColorationSettings

Location of colorations can also be changed when right-clicking on a coloration. Local colorways are signed with the folder icon in the colorations displays. When the list of options unfolds, you can choose to save it as Embedded or Local.


The option 'Hybrid coloration' is active and used when working with hybrid designs (image with alpha channels). For more informations refer to create coloration section.

The Simulation provides production simulations perform an ink calculation for production when mixing colors in different cases. The values indicated in this section are, by default, the ones corresponding to traditional multichannel designs.

Simulation - When you tick the Simulate tab it allows to select four simulations methods:

  • Standard
  • Production
  • Darken production
  • Pigment production
  • Photoshop

The simulation Standard uses the parameters and values indicated in the screen. We recommend to use the settings as pictured by default:

  • Fabric density - Allows to simulate different percentages of fabric density.
  • Maximum ink level- Provides a maximum of 900 percent of ink level calculation, which would be needed to obtain black color when mixing greys and blues.

Predominance and Dark predominance are not editable and use internal calculation.

The other simulations are independent and process will be calculated internally. Here an overview between all the simulation methods:


This method simulates Photoshop channel solidity. This simulation is similar as Photoshop, not equal.

Here we are using Photoshop channel Solidity in nT Colorations as Transparency (inverted value).

Color setups

nT Colorations offers several options to apply color modes and installed ICC profiles. 

The change of color space can modify the colors.

Install profile

When working with (in colorations) embedded profiles, the download icon next to the profile name allows you to install it in your system. 

Preserve color numbers

When working with colors of color libraries, the option to 'Preserve color numbers' will keep the color values of color libraries's colors in the destination channel when converting to another icc profile.

Install printer scheme

To work with special and printer colorways you need the printer scheme created in neoStampa in order to create colorways. When starting to convert profiles, then you can import the scheme with the download icon that allows to select the scheme folder which will be copied and saved in folder InSwRipSettings. Else, when working with nS QuickPrinter Panel and having a valid connection to Print Server, then the schemes will be synchronized to the same folder.

Convert to color space profile

Working profiles (RGB, CMYK, Lab) and custom profiles (RGB, CMYK) modes can be applied to a coloration. Convert to profile translates color meaning from one profile to another, changing the color mode numbers. The option to convert channel colors to the selected profile is optional.

This can be seen in the RGB numbers from the sRGB profile below, changing to different numbers in the Adobe RGB (1998) destination. Note that color appearance, indicated here by the Lab readout, stays the same.

Rendering Intent

Perceptual: Compresses the total gamut from one color space into the gamut of color space when one or more colors in the original image is out of the gamut of the destination color space. This preserves the visual relationship between colors by shrinking the entire color space and shifting all colors, including those that were in gamut.

Saturation: Reproduces the original image color saturation when converting into the target color space. In this approach, the relative saturation of colors is maintained from gamut to gamut. This render intent is primarily designed for business graphics, where the exact relationship between colors (such as in a photographic image) is not as important as are bright saturated colors.

Relative Colorimetric: When a color in the current color space is out of gamut in the target color space, it is mapped to the closest possible color within the gamut of the target color space, while colors that are in gamut are not affected. Only the colors that fall outside of the destination gamut are changed.

Absolute Colorimetric: Colors match exactly with no adjustment made for white point or black point that would alter the image's brightness.

Color Mode + Special device colors

This type of colorways, also called special device colorways, are color modes like RGB and CMYK with device colors (fluorescent inks) that can be applied to a color and color library using the device color recipe. 

Remember that the neoStampa scheme must be downloaded or synchronized. When the mode and the scheme profile are selected, to change the color you need to open the color picker from color channel.

The color picker opens, where you can open the device colors dialog with 'Device' option. 

In the dialog you can enter the device colors recipe.

Printer Colorways

Users that use to work with color recipes in a conventional color kitchen will find it easy to modify and make fine tune color adjustments to their colorways in their daily production workflow. This system allows to change color channels with color recipes directly in the colorway, setting values to printer device inks, in absolute mode or relative one, allowing to have nice gradients inside the ink limits, as well to manage special inks like fluorescent, diluents, etc. 

When the printer space mode is selected you will be able to select the printer. The selected printer contains the schemes according the printer neoStampa calibrations. Remember that the neoStampa scheme must be downloaded or synchronized. When the scheme profile is selected, to change a color you need to open the 'Channel options' of the selected color channel.

Once the dialog is open, click on the drop icon next the color view, which opens the recipe dialog where you can enter the device colors recipe. The 'Apply ink control' option will use the light inks that will calculate automatically the ink percentages. When values are applied, then the replacement values are shown in the 'Channel options' dialog.

Working with printer colorways you can have the values component in the patches layout for native format.

Assign profile

Working profiles and custom profiles modes can be applied to a coloration. Assign profile keeps RGB color mode numbers the same but changes their meaning, as shown below. The color which is displayed is changed.

Proofer setup

Soft proofing is an option that allows you to simulate on your computer monitor what your print will look like when it is printed on media using specific ICC profile. When a printer profile is made the color of the paper or fabric media is one factors that is shaped in the profile, because of the ink and the media combination.

Using the options in the Proofer Setup printer simulation you determine the color space options on the printer, so that nT Colorations can show the color samples. 

Ticking the 'Use coloration profile' option, the simulation parameters will be automatically updated. If you select 'Show proof colors' you can see the printer simulation on the screen.

The Edit button opens a new window with further options.

According to your choice of settings, the color samples and the image will show proofed colors. At the bottom of the window the embedded (left) and proofing (right) profiles are displayed. 

Later, when coloring the colorway with color picker, the proofing is applied in the color space visualization.
